PROJECT

Production and processing of rice in Bilibiza

The Quirimbas National Park is a conservation area with high population density, in a rural area in which the majority of population depends on the land for their subsistence (agriculture and timber and non-timber forest resources exploitation). The Production and processing of rice in Bilibiza project has the purpose of promoting the improvement and diversification of the means of subsistence of the project’s direct beneficiaries, improving their diet, allow them to develop agricultural businesses as a means of increasing their income and reduce the negative influence in the natural resources. The project has a duration of one year and the following objectives:

  1. Increase and improve the Bilibiza’s population familiar subsistence base and generation of income, whilst insuring the environmental protection.
  2. Promoting sustainable rice production and local processing practices.
